Course Overview

This short course offers a broad introduction to fiber recovery infrastructure including a value chain overview, a history and evolution of recycled fiber collection, MRF sortation practices, markets, and national trend impacts. Discussions focus on the overall recovery system and the implications of best practice fiber management and mismanagement, MRF equipment organization, MRF schematic layouts and how the different designs impact the recovery of all waste derived commodities. The economics of fiber capture and recycling are evaluated and discussed from both a first order and second order level.
