Course Overview

This short course provides an “tour” of the recycled paper manufacturing process.  It includes an entire paper recycling process at a pilot scale on WMU campus and a commercial production scale at GPI’s Kalamazoo mill with video clips of the running of a machine and PowerPoint slides.

This course is designed for new engineers and technicians in the pulp and paper and related industries and newcomers to the field of paper recycling.

Learning Objectives

• Familiarize with a real paper recycling process and machinery
• Understand the types of recycled fibers used for making a paper grade
• Understand paper recycling process in the pilot scale research facility
