Course Overview
Course is focused on advanced concepts of printing inks chemistry, technology, recycling, and deinking methods for experts in paper industry field trying to expand their skills set. Professionals working in paper and printing industries such as engineers and advanced technicians will get familiar with main components of printing and functional inks, ink additives and other components for particular print processes. Application of proper deinking and recycling strategies based on particular ink systems, and novel approaches for separation of precious metals from printed electronics products will be also discussed.

- Review of individual printing processes and inks used
- Components of printing inks (pigments, resins, additives, and solvents) for individual printing processes. Graphic and functional inks.
- Environmental concerns. Sustainable and lean ink manufacturing practices, recycling, reformulation, and remanufacturing of press return inks.
- Retrieving precious metals from printed electronic paper products.
- Deinking procedures, flotation, washing, and deinkability evaluation.
